Innes and we’re talking about her latest release, A Passion so Wild. She prefers English Breakfast tea in the morning and Earl Grey in the afternoon. And we are also (and this makes me very happy)  having carrot cake, one of my favourites cakes too!

Before we talk about the story, let’s find out more about Louise:

Questions:

A. Quickies

  1. Tea or wine? (what brand/cultivar?)

Tea! I’ll have English Breakfast in the morning and Earl Grey in the afternoon, please. A slice of carrot cake or a muffin wouldn’t go amiss either…

  1. Read or jog?

Read! I love nothing more than to curl up in a sunny spot with a good book. Does anyone prefer jogging?

  1. Cats or dogs?

Dogs. I’m allergic to cats, unfortunately, but we’ve always had rescue dogs.

  1. Heels or flats?

Heels! I’m already quite tall, but I love to step into my heels for a good night out.

  1. Boxers or briefs?

I actually prefer briefs, especially if the man is well constructed. J

  1. Milk, dark or white chocolate

White chocolate is my absolute favourite treat! I can’t wait until Easter.

  1. Sweet or savoury

Savoury usually, although I have developed an annoying sweet tooth of late.

  1. Sea or mountains

Sea. I grew up near the sea and nothing beats falling asleep to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. Or waking up to it… or walking along the beach next to it… or surfing in it… or staring out at it.

B. Five likes and five dislikes

I like spending quality time with my son, reading, listening to live jazz, walking in the park and laughing with friends.

I dislike being late, getting behind schedule, cooking, red meat, and big egos.

C. Three things on your bucket list

An American road trip with my best friend, sailing around the Greek islands, and redecorating my entire home!

D. What triggered this specific story?

I wanted a setting that would take my characters way out of their comfort zone. My heroine is a wealthy socialite from New York and my hero is a hunky ex-military engineering tycoon from London, so I thought what better place to stick them than in the African jungle.

Growing up on the east coast of South Africa, I’ve always loved the wilderness and the subtropical rainforests of the region, so I applied this knowledge to the story, and set the book in the Congolese jungle.
Not only do my characters have to get to grips with the heat, humidity and lack of infrastructure, but they also have to cope with gorillas, rebels and the instability of the country.
During my research I fell in love with the magnificent mountain gorillas, which are sadly critically endangered. I am also in awe of the brave park rangers who risk their lives on a daily basis to protect these endangered animals.
So for me, the book is so much more than just a love story. I’m hoping my readers will see it that way too.

A Passion So Wild (Release date: 1/4/16)

Former socialite, Lexi, adores her new, fulfilling life as a gorilla vet in the Congolese jungle. Even the surrounding political volatility can’t dim her contentment – until she meets the sanctuary’s enigmatic benefactor, Sir Anthony. He’s wealthy and arrogant, appearing more concerned with his company’s image than the welfare of the sanctuary he’s endowed. He symbolizes the empty, pampered life she left behind – so why is she falling for him? When rebels attack the sanctuary, Sir Anthony is the only man who can keep her safe – yet he’s also the biggest threat her heart has ever faced.
