My writing process:

What am I working on?

At the moment I’m trying to finish an Afrikaans story as quickly as possible because I’m very anxious to begin the second story in a series I’ve started. The first one, Touched to the heart, will be be published in July (Escape Publishing).

How does my work differ from others of its genre?

I write contemporary romances. As a South African my stories are set in and around Cape Town.

Why do I write what I do?

I love to read any book with a happy ending! So this is the kind of story I love to write. If just one of my stories can inspire someone to not give up on love, I’m happy 🙂

How does my writing process work?

In an ideal world I’ll write every day 🙂 And that’s what I aim for. I normally start at about nine in the morning and work straight through until about half past four when I start cooking. Life happens in between so I’m not always able to stick to this schedule but I keep trying 🙂 I don’t work on Sundays and on Saturdays I try to edit the week’s work.

My latest story is Love, in writing (Escape Pulishing) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FB3MWNE/ref=pe_160500_112690960_em_1p_0_im

Cover, Love, in writing 367 kb

Next week the following authors will be participating:

1. Kathy Bosman:
Kathy loves reading and writing even more. She homeschools her three children, one a teenager, so in between unsuccessfully explaining the difference between subject and predicate or how to divide fractions, she enters an imaginary world of troubled and passionate characters whose stories take over the page. Kathy lives in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa, where the summers are hot, the winters cool, and bugs thrive. Her first published novel, Wedding Gown Girl, came out in 2012 with Astraea Press. She belongs to the Romance Writers of South Africa Group (ROSA) which has been her greatest support and inspiration the last few years.

2. Lisa Greer:

My passion is gothic romance: reviewing it and writing it. If you like romance that will make you quiver and a hint of the supernatural to make you shudder, you’re in the right place. Oh, of course I do a lot of other things like teach and tutor English, edit, and wrangle with a tween daughter, a 7 month old, and their mad scientist father. But whenever I can, I write gothic romance reminiscent of the early authors of the genre. It’s just that my heroines have cell phones and Facebook-unless I’m writing historicals, of course. I’ve penned a couple regular romances, but my characters usually want graveyards, murder, mouldering ancestral mansions, and isolated spaces.

3. And Marie Dry

I signed with Black Opal Books last year April and the manuscript is currently going through its second edit. I work full time at the Department of Interantional Relations and Cooperation and have been posted to the South African Embassy’s in Lusaka, Rabat and Madrid.

Lovely blog on your writing process, Elsa. It’s interesting how we all dive into writing in different ways. I’m up early, but it takes me a while for my brain to get into gear. A coffee usually helps. Best wishes with your work. 🙂
